Mal is poet, writer and film maker who lives in Tamworth, he was the first Staffordshire Poet Laureate in 2012.
Mal's commissions have included developing the Polesworth Poets Trail, developing a tree story trail, writing plays and poems for the towns and cities of Tamworth, Lichfield, Stafford and Nuneaton.
His plays have been performed around the UK and his films at International Film Festivals and his poems published in anthologies and magazines. Mal won the John Walmsley Award for his Refugee play Mausoleum in 2016.
Mal created and wrote six plays for the Dr Johnson WikiWords season performed by Fired Up Theatre at the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum in Lichfield. His work also includes programming youth led Shakespeare festivals as part of the Emerge Programme.
Mal is a freelance, writer, community developer and theatre producer.
