Margaret Torr

Poem: Pooley Pit Ponies

Margaret is originally from Birkenhead although she now lives in Burton-on-Trent and is a regular member of Runaway Writers.

Margaret worked in Tamworth for 16 years supporting children with learning difficulties. Now retired she enjoys having more time to write.

Deaf since the age of five, the written word has always helped her make sense of the world.

An avid bookworm, Margaret loves word play and layered meanings. A keen storyteller and performance poet she enjoys meeting up with fellow writers at local open mike sessions.

Margaret is delighted to have a poem on The Polesworth Trail. Her poem was inspired by hearing the tales of the ex miners and the camaraderie they shared.

Margaret is currently exploring imaginary worlds and sharing a love  of nonsense poems with her young grandson.
