Marjorie Neilson

Poem: In Their Footsteps

Poet and writer, Marjorie,  has a BA (Honours)(Open) Literature, which led her in the late 2000’s to start writing short stories from which she branched into writing articles.

More recently Marjorie decided to concentrate on writing poetry.  She has edited two anthologies: Silver Words and Battle Lines for the Lichfield Poets.  She is a past winner of The Hilary Fawcett Article Writing Competition; the article being published in The Lichfield Mercury.

Her poetry has been published on-line at Staffordshire Poetry Collection, produced by Staffordshire County Council Libraries in conjunction with Bert Flitcroft, a former Staffordshire Poet Laureate.

Marjorie has a poem included in The Poetry of Staffordshire published by Offa’s Press, and a short story and poetry in an anthology produced by Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum Writing Group.

The Baddesley Clinton History Group, Warwickshire, asked her to write two poems to be included on the cover of their booklets published by The National Trust.

In the past Marjorie has been involved in various projects – to write a poem on the archaeological excavation Dig the Abbey in Polesworth and The Polesworth Poetry Trail.  She has even had four poems displayed in business’ as part of The Wirral Festival of Firsts.

Marjorie is a member of The Lichfield Poets and the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum Writing Group.
